“The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt”

Today we are talking more and more about how destructive and challenging the COVID-19 virus epidemic is, and certainly for good reason. But, it pales in comparison to the plagues that took place 3,500 years ago in Egypt. Water was turned to blood, infestations of frogs, lice, gnats and locust all hit, livestock became diseased and died and left their carcasses to rot and the people broke out in painful boils. Darkness covered the land for three days, and ultimately the first born sons of Egyptians were struck dead.
It was God’s punishment upon the idolatry of Egypt and the means by which He prompted Pharaoh to let His people free from their bondage. Yet, through this all, God’s people were unaffected and kept safe. When the Angel of Death flew over the land, He spared the houses that had the blood of the lamb upon their thresholds, so that by the blood of the sacrifice, God’s people were kept safe.
Corona Virus, its fears and challenges effect us all, believers and unbelievers alike. We need not fear COVID –19’s greatest threat because we have been covered in the Blood of Jesus that forgives sin and guarantees true, abundant and eternal life.
Know this truth! Live this Truth! And share this Truth, as we make our way out of the bondage of sin’s effects, into a hopeful future.
