“For I am the Lord your God Who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear’ I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13
Oh Lord, help! We thank you for your promises and know that our hope lies in You alone!
The right hand in Scripture has always been a symbol of power, of both defense and strength for offense. God’s right hand is where Jesus rules from His throne and directs the events of our fallen world. As He does so, we are reminded that He has already conquered the true enemies that we face in sin, death and the devil. While battles still rage, what is most crucial has already been decided. We have the victory, and the Lord has the final say!
Despite the hopeless we often feel, our God promises that our future is bright. Psalm 30:5 states, “…weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Because of our great God, we have this hope, and even this world, sin, death’s threat, and the workings of the devil will not take it away!
The verse from Isaiah says that the Lord will “take hold of our right hand”. It is a promise that as His right hand controls all things, so He will give us power and direct our ways with His strength as we simply hold His hand. With this truth, we need not fear… the Lord will help us!
