“For even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many” Matthew 20:28
These are the Words of the King of kings and Lord of lords. The Creator and Sustainer of all that there is or ever will be, Jesus Christ! He alone deserves all glory, honor and praise, and yet He came to serve, to walk along side of us, wash feet, seek the lost, and yes, give up His life on a cross, for all people! Isn’t that amazing? Oh yes, dear Lord Jesus, You are wonderful indeed!
Jesus’ model of servanthood leaves us the prime example for which to follow. Yet, in our day, so many are seeking to be served rather than to serve, and that includes you and me. We need more servants today than ever before; people who are willing to be like Jesus, their Master, and lead their lives in service to Him by serving one another.
David Haas in his “Servant Song” asks the question for us today:
Will you let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you?
Pray that I might have the grace to let you be my servant too?
We are pilgrims on the journey, we are travelers on the road.
We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load.
I will hold the Christ light for you in the night time of your fear.
I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear.
I will weep when you are weeping, when you laugh, I’ll laugh with you.
I will share your joy and sorrow, till we’ve seen this journey through.
Will you let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you?
Pray that I might have the grace to let you be my servant too.
As you reflect and answer this question, please pray with me. “Oh Lord, make me a servant like You, make me a servant today as I praise You for serving me in love and forgiveness into eternal life.” In Your Name, Amen
Blessings to you! Remember you are loved!
