“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord!” Psalm 27:14

It has been said that there are three ways that God answers prayer; He can say, “yes”, “no”, or “wait”. Most of the time we want God to answer “yes” to our requests and petitions. It is harder when we feel God saying “no”, but at the same time we are usually glad that we have an answer and can move on from there and go forward. It is the last answer that challenges us when we are told to “wait”, or that the God is saying “not yet” at the very least.

If you’re like me, you may have a problem with patience. In our modern day we are used to having our desires met immediately, or close to it. If the mail takes too long, we complain. If a food order delays, we get annoyed. If we have to wait too long in line, we get frustrated. We have an issue with simply being still and allowing time to progress as it will.

It’s been 2,000 years since the Lord ushered in the End Times. Christians have anxiously awaited His Second Coming even crying out in the same way as God’s people did before Jesus came saying, “how long oh Lord, why do you tarry?” When Jesus came, He showed us that our time-line is not the same as God’s. II Peter 3:8 tells us, “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” God deals in eternity, and although our time on earth is different than His, we can be assured that as He kept His promises in the past, so too will He keep His promises for our future. With this knowledge, perhaps we can be still, let God be God, and wait on His answers to our prayers.

Know that you are loved!
