“If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s”  Romans 14:8

The foundational truth of this passage from Romans stands on the fact that we are the Lord’s! And nothing, not even our great enemy of death, can change that truth! What a wonderful life insurance policy we have in Jesus, one that pays dividends in this life, and the life to come. So, “whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s!”

That phrase is found on my father’s own gravestone, along with his name, Kenneth John Kilian, and years of life, 1936-1990. It was 30 years ago today that the Lord called him to glory and to real life, true life, abundant life. My father chose the verse in order to remind anyone who sees it, that he has life because of Jesus, and that so do we.  It’s a reality my father lived for 54 years on earth, and for the last 30 and beyond in heaven.

That is a great comforting hope as we live out our earthly days. It reminds us that we are the Lord’s now and forever, and empowers us to living this truth life. It is my prayer that by the power of the Spirit, we would be moved to new life each and every day.

Know that you are loved!

Peace and Joy!
