(Jesus said) “I AM…The Life…” John 14:6
“I AM the Life!” It is the final title of the trilogy and Jesus’ most profound “I AM” statements, giving completion to His proclamation as “The Way” and “The Truth.” He is not just “a” way, or “a” truth,” but “The Way,” “The Truth,” and now, “The Life!”
Jesus is not speaking of mere existence in this earthly pilgrimage, He is speaking to the essence of the word “life,” in all of its fullness and abundance and purpose, even unto life everlasting. Jesus stated this as the reason He came to earth, saying, “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” John 10:10.
Jesus is the Source of this abundant life, making us far more than we could be on our own, and giving us great potential for living out this life. Far beyond, is the fact that He is the Source of eternal life, energizing us to truly live and grow and actualize in the here and now. As we realize and live this life today, we begin to enjoy the everlasting life we presently have in Christ.
