“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

We live in a time that makes planning difficult. It seems that situations change daily in relation to Covid, the economy, politics, and our society in general. The plans we made yesterday have had to be changed due to a new discovery, mandate or challenge we are facing. The only constant is inconsistency. The only thing we can predict is unpredictability. It all makes for great frustration and disappointment.

Such is life in a fallen world full of fallen people. How comforting it is then, to read a verse like the one above from Jeremiah. We might not be able to make predictable plans for the future, but God can, He holds the future in His hand. When God makes a promise for our future, it is as sure as if it had already taken place. His promise from Jeremiah tells us that He will prosper us and give us hope. Even though we might not know His exact plans, we can trust in this promise.

When life feels like it’s out of control, when you are frustrated, when uncertainties mount, read God’s promise above and rest easy in His grace. Know that He not only has a plan for the entire creation, but for you specifically. Our God is not only all powerful, but He is good and desires good things for His Children. This is most certainly true!

Know that you are loved!

Peace and Joy,
Pastor Kilian
