We’ve all been lost at some point and needed to stop and ask directions. What a comfort it was when someone with knowledge gave us direction, or even took us personally to our destination. We went from being lost, to being found.
In a small way, this is comparable to our life with Jesus. We were once lost in sin, without spiritual direction, and then He came to us and not only told us the way, but said, “follow Me,” and then He showed us the way.
The desire to know one’s way in life is the common human problem throughout the history of humanity. Other religions claim to know it, as do other ideologies, philosophies, politicians and economists, and yet, their way always leads to a dead-end…literally.
Only Jesus knows the way to true, abundant and eternal life, because He is literally, The Way! His Holy Word is our guidebook and map that leads to the destination of the Kingdom of God.
Many other voices call us to follow them in this world, but only the voice of the Good Shepherd knows where the green pastures and still waters are to be found, and only He knows the Way through the valley of the shadow of death. As we follow HIs voice goodness and mercy will abide with us and we will dwell in our eternal destination, the House of the Lord.
