“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
It is no coincidence that when we delight in our great God that we find that which we desire the most because that which we genuinely want, in the deepest parts of our hearts, comes only from Him!
We are a people full of desires. We are always looking for something that will satisfy our momentary cravings and often we lack a contentment in what we already have. When we get those things we desire, they soon turn old and we want for something else. The material and physical will always test our human nature and leave us feeling incomplete as though we are lacking. Such is the power of advertising and its lure that convinces us accordingly.
Today God is convincing us that what we genuinely want is to be found in Him and it is never disappointing or lacking. He reminds us that we have contentment in His promises and because of Jesus, we are never, ever incomplete! Forgiveness, hope, life, and grace are ours, now and forever! When we find contentment in these gifts, all else is simply added unto it.
Delighting in the gifts our Lord has given to us grants joy to our hearts. It assures us that what we most desire has already been fully given and in this, we are truly content!
