“I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer…” I Timothy 2:8
I have to tell you; I have thoroughly enjoyed preparing this recent series of devotionals on the topic of prayer! As I have gone to the Scriptures and meditated upon God’s Word, I have learned much on the theme of prayer and grown in the process. I pray that these devotions have been efficacious for you as well!
The previous devotional gave an acronym as a suggested pattern for prayer to be used personally or if one is asked to lead in prayer before a group. I hope it has been helpful. As a reminder, the acronym is ACTS…Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication (first for others and then for oneself). I would encourage you to practice this in your own prayer life and in accordance, I would like to offer my own prayer for you today as an example.
ADORATION- O Lord, you are a great God, so worthy of praise for your constant grace and mercy!
CONFESSION- I recognize that I have not always appreciated your goodness and have often put my own will before Yours.
THANKSGIVING- I praise you for not holding this against me, but for continuing to grant Your forgiveness and regular daily blessings on my life.
SUPPLICATION- Grant Your Holy Spirit in greater measure so that all Your people may recognize your goodness and that all people may praise You!
Give me the strength and remembrance to keep You and Your Word in the forefront of my mind and heart every moment of every day!
(CLOSING)- I pray this in the Name of and for the sake of Your precious Son, Jesus Christ. Amen!
Short and simple, and yet powerful as the Holy Spirit brings my words before the throne of God and perfects them by His grace. Perhaps you will write a prayer as well. If you do, send it to me and share your thoughts. You are always in my prayers as I thank you for including me in yours!
Know that you are loved!
Peace and Joy,
Pastor Kilian
