“What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?…Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? Romans 8:31, 35
The promises above are framed as questions with the contextual answer being given that no one can be against us or separate us from the love of Christ because God is for us! This section of Romans 8 is titled, “More than Conquerors” and is an encouraging and empowering portion of Scripture that I would recommend for you to read in its entirety. It makes the case that since God has given us His Own Son, He will graciously give us all things.
We see trouble and hardship all around us, we feel the persecutions of life in a fallen world, we experience the famine of hope in many and the threats of the devil, and yet, none of these are greater than the strength of God or His faithful love for us. When Paul wrote these words to the Church in Rome, they were experiencing trials even worse than ours today. The challenges they dealt with on a daily basis literally threatened their lives and were in direct opposition to the Faith. And yet, God provided for them. His grace was greater! His love and promises endured!
Just as God has provided for His people in the past, so too, we have the assurance that He will do so in our present time and into the future. God has claimed us as His Own and He won’t allow anything to separate us from His love and promises!
Know that you are loved!
Peace and Joy!
