“…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings of eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

This current devotional series on the Promises of God, is intended to remind us all that God has given us His assurance that as we follow His Word, either to act or refrain from certain actions, we will receive His blessings. This is always important to know, but perhaps especially now in our current times of great challenge and even distress. God is powerful and can restore and deliver those who trust in Him and look to His strength. We wait for the Lord to act knowing that when His does, it will be in His perfect timing. Our hope is an act of faithfully waiting for Him to do so.

In the verse above, God recognizes that we often feel weak, weary, and even grow faint in our waiting. He knows that we desire to have our strength rejuvenated so that we may continue to not only walk and run the path He has put before us, but so that we may soar through it…as on wings of eagles. Accordingly, He calls us to hope! God calls us to trust in His promises and keep them ever close, despite the challenges and discouragements we face. God is always good, and His timing is always perfect!

The preceding verses of Isaiah chapter 40, speak about the power and majesty of God which gives us the reason for why we hope in the Lord. I would encourage you, that after you read this devotional, to go to Isaiah 40 and read it in its entirety. It begins, “Comfort, comfort ye My people…”  and it will surely give you comfort and strength to soar through he challenges of this time.

Know that you are loved!

Peace and Joy,
Pastor Kilian
