“If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14
In this verse from Il Chronicles, once again the Lord is calling His people back to Him, back to adherence to His Law, back to His Covenant, back to honoring His prophets, because once again His people have proved not to be faithful. It’s the story of all of Scripture, it’s our story today as well as we turn away from God through regular sin. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
The answer to this problem is the same for God’s people today as it has been in the past. God tells His people to call on Him in humility and to seek His face. God encourages His people then as He does now, to pray. Because God has called us by His Name, He will not forsake us, He will not forsake Himself, He desires to forgive us and heal us.
This verse becomes truly relevant for us today as America is becoming less and less Christian and foregoing regular attendance at Church and Worship. The greatness of our country will return as we go back to that which has always made it strong, faith in the One True God. Individually and collectively, the call is the same, pray, turn from wickedness, and seek God! His healing is certain, and He will hear!
Know that you are loved!
Peace and Joy,
