“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
Are you feeling anxious nowadays? Certainly, there is much to be anxious about. Covid, the upcoming elections, economic issues, social upheaval, the list goes on and on. So what do we do? How do we deal with our anxiety and not let it bring us to despair? Well, this verse from Philippians gives us the answer, and the answer is prayer!
When we go to God in prayer with thanksgiving, we change our pattern of thought and rather than focus on our troubles and weaknesses, we focus on His solutions and strength. When we consider all that we have to be thankful for and meditate on such things, we realize that our blessings are greater than our challenges.
The devil would love to leave us wallowing in discouragement and keep us from focusing on God and His power. When we turn that focus on to God, we find a peace that transcends all human understanding and this guards are hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. That is the truth in the following version in Philippians 4, verse 7. I encourage you to look it up and make these two verses part of your daily routine, especially when this life makes you feel anxious and worried. You are never alone for God is just a prayer away.
Know that you are loved!
Peace and Joy,
Pastor Kilian
