“Jesus said to His Disciples, ‘But Who do you say that I Am?’ Peter replied, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.'” Matthew 16:15
We are asked many important questions in life, questions that change the trajectory of how we live, think, speak and act. There is no more important question to be answered than the one Jesus gives to His Disciples as to Who He truly is. When Peter responds that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah prophesied of old, but also deity as the Son of God, he gives the truest confession.
So we are asked this day to make this confession. Not only with words, but with our mind, heart and soul and to proclaim our belief in how we live, speak and act. This one true confession sets our course in life on the sure path that leads to life everlasting. Living this confession, as empowered by the Holy Spirit, gives us direction and assurance to answer all other questions life may bring us.
Because Jesus answered this question through His life and ministry, we can live in confidence of the truth that guides us. This is the truth given by faith as the Holy Spirit empowers us to confess that Jesus is our Christ, the Son of the Living God and our Savior personally. Amen!
Know that you are loved!
Peace and Joy,
Pastor Kilian
