(Jesus said) “I AM the Alpha and Omega” Revelation 22:13

These are the final words of Jesus recorded in the last Book of the Bible in the final chapter. Very appropriate as the “I AM” statement encapsulated the eternal essence of our God as not only the beginning, but also the end. It is a title of divinity and all encompassing authority and is found to be uttered three times in the Book of Revelation.

As you may be familiar with, the “alpha and omega,” are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. As Jesus ascribes this title to Himself, He declares that He is the First and Last of all things. He is the origin of all that there is, and the conclusion to all that exists. And yet Jesus stands outside of it all for He has no beginning or end. His deity declares an eternal essence of that which has always been, is, and will ever be. It’s the understanding of the title, “I AM” and the Name of God!

Not only is He the beginning and the end, but all that is in between. He is all that can be. Even as the letters of the alphabet create words and ideas for expression in order to communicate life and grow, so Jesus is the One responsible for all that life holds. Indeed, He calls Himself the “Word” by which mere ideas come to full expression even as He is “the Word made flesh” and communicates the love of God and His plans for us now and for eternity.

So our Lord speaks to us today, and says, I love you, and control all things by My grace!

Know that you are loved!

Peace and Joy!
