“The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it…” Psalm 24:1

We’re all very familiar with the 23rd Psalm, the Good Shepherd Psalm, it is one of the most beloved chapters of Scripture. But how many of us know Psalm 24 that follows it? It picks up where the 23rd Psalm leaves off in dwelling in the House of the Lord, forever. The 24th Psalm was written to celebrate the Ark of the Covenant’s return to the Tabernacle in Jerusalem and how one enters into the Holy place.

The Psalm begins with the recognition that our Lord is the Creator, Sustainer, and Possessor of all things and worthy to be revered and honored as the King of kings and Lord of lords. Knowing this King of glory and acknowledging His sovereignty, is the beginning of truth that grants perspective for living. When we enter into each day with this recognition, we set our path aright and it orders our steps.  And who is the King of glory? The Lord Almighty. He is the King of glory!

Read this Psalm today and pray that its words will bring you to the care of the Good Shepherd as He enters into your heart on this new day. He is the One Who holds you and all things in His loving hands!

Know that you are loved!

Peace and Joy,

Pastor Kilian
