“…my cup overflows.” Psalm 23:5c

Is your “cup” half empty or half full? That’s the common question when checking whether a person’s perspective is positive or negative. The answer given is always very telling in regards to the hopefulness individuals feel in life. We can easily view our current time and the challenges and difficulties being faced in our society with a view of a glass half empty. But, if we reflect again, we could make the argument of a glass half full because there is also so much good around us.

Healing is happening, physically, socially, spiritually, emotionally. People are talking and listening to each other more. The unemployed are becoming employed. The economy is bouncing back. Businesses and Churches are making plans to reopen. Hearts are softening. Sure, we could dwell on the negative, but there is so much that is positive that cannot be dismissed.

As Christians we may look around our world and view it as half empty, but ultimately this is a temporal perspective. Our view is set on the things above where are hearts are found and eternal gifts are provided. And as we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, we see that our “cups” are not half empty, and not even half full, they are overflowing!

This is our perspective in this life. It is a perspective to know, live and share, because we already have the rich promises of God. He is the One who guarantees that... “Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6. And God grant this unto us all for the sake of Christ Jesus!

Know that you are loved!

Peace and Joy,
