“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
Today people keep talking about the “New Normal.” It means that current situations have changed the normal routines to which we have become accustomed. It means that what we will now consider “normal” is different from how we used to use the term. But earthly life is always about a new normal, because this life is transient and ever-changing. Life always causes us to adjust, whether for the good or for ill.
Even after this COVID-19 Pandemic, we will not return to life as usual. Too much has happened, new routines have begun, we will have to adjust. And that is life.
This is why the verse from Hebrews is especially encouraging. It is the “old normal,” or that which never changes even in a changing world, even in this changing time. What never, ever changes is God’s love and promises and protection and presence. God’s promises are just as they were in the past and will continue, and we have confidence that they will remain forever!
Memorize this verse and repeat it very day. When someone talks about the “new normal” remind them and yourself that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
